OT-snowmobile trailer tire pressure ?

I am renting a two place snowmobile trailer. I asked the person at the rental place if they checked the tire pressure. His answer was "they check it all over good." Well after getting loaded curiosity got the best of me. I had to use pliers to get the cap off of one. They both only have/had 30 lbs in them. Side wall says up to 50 lbs for a load of 940 lbs. per tire. No manufactuer sticker on the trailer with recomended tire pressures. What would you do? I added air up to 40 lbs each. Acme rental is closed on sundays so I cant call them and ask. Guess if I have problems I will return it with a well worn rim monday morning ;)

Tires are speed rated, and the pressure stated on the side of the tire is the recommended tire pressure from the manufacturrer for that tire, with that speed rating..I woud put it up to 50lbs and be done with it.
