HOW MUCH CAN A WD 45 LIFT FROM THE BACK

I have been told that a wd 45 can not lift very much from the back, lets say 1000 to 1,600 is that true. I am talking about one big round bail of hay. I ungerstand it depends on how heavy the bails are and if it is grass hay or what ever.Any body have any thoughts: MANY THANKS

If your pump and cyl. are in great condition you can lift a 4x4 bale of good alfalfa. Not sure if it will lift more. A d17 will lift a 5x4 bale of good quality hay.

Im not sure how heavy a 4x4 is but Im thinking it may be close to a 1000lbs. right.
MANY THANKS:

A friend loaned me a snap coupler bale carrier that worked great on my WD. The front end didn't get light at all. I have a three point adapter and bale carrier. The front end would get pretty light with the same size bales.

A lot will depend on if you have a 3 point set up or the snap coupler set up. The 3 point system pushes thing out away from the tractor more and in doing so causes the front to get light faster and also works the lift harder. But yes you should be able to lift 1200lbs with no problem if the pump and cylinder are in good shape. Shoot with the old plows they used if you hooked a root you could pick the front end up and change a flat tire up front

Ran a one-row cotton picker on the back of a WD and later a WD-45 for several years; don't remember exactly, but the thing had to weigh at least 2000 #, maybe much more; it was HEAVY!

We used a WD45 to move bales on the rear with a snap coupler bale spear. 5x5 grass hay. It lifted them fine, but the front end would get quite light, especially if there was any mud or snow in front of the back wheels.

Frye you should check out external_link and search allis chalmers. Then click on WD45 and it will have a lot of accurate information for you.

I am feeding 5x5 alfalfa bales now that weigh 1740 if that helps you, of course it was baled tight with a very good newer JD baler and net wrap. I didn't bale it, my junk wouldn't bale anything that tight.

IF that is the case; Here is a dumb question
is there such a thing as bail staber for that tractor.I know Bud again I did not ask enough question the other day.REMEMBER I HAVE CRC.

O would say there probably isn't one made for the snap coupler that you should have on it since the big round bales didn't come out till way after production if the WD/WD45 had ended so if there are any they would be few and far between so you will probably have to get a 3 point one and put a 3 point on that tractor
