Buying New Tractor

Was in the market for a newer small tractor, 35-50 HP or so. Came across an add in Tractorhouse magazine for: All NEW, 45 HP Kubota diesel, two axle-18 foot trailer, 5 foot hog, front end loader, brush guard and a 6 foot box blade. 4 wheel drive with ag tires. $24,725 with zero percent financing for 42 months.

Any comments about that deal? I can't beat it with JD or NH, and even though I don't need the trailer or box blade, it sounds too good to pass.

Read the fine print and take the ad to your local Deere dealer. They will be interested to see that one.
That tractor may have some sort of interesting history and/or specs.

Well as far as kubota goes i have to say my experience with them is they start pretty good in cold weather and the ease of use is pretty good, If you dont need the box blade or trailer then thats money you can make back be re sale if you wish or keep them for a time when you may need it. If you have the means of making payments and its the right size tractor for what you need, I think its a pretty good deal

I agree with B and D. If you go on the Deere website they have listed the 4105 tractor, 40 HP for $19,000 new without any implements. I am sure that you would pay close to the $19k mark with taxes, fees etc. But for $25k you can get the 4105 with FEL and a couple of other implements.

I think that used to be Fiser Kubota but may have a new owner. The reason they run those ads like that is that Kubota objects to advertising prices at less than list. Dealers get in trouble with other dealer complaints when they run sale ads listing the tractor alone. Kubota website has build and price section. Spec out the tractor you want, take 17.5% off list and see how close a dealer can come to that. They also might have a demo or rental for even less. Deere discounts are higher (around 22%).

My JD and NH dealers haven't discussed any discounts approaching 22% but I am going to ask now! Thanks, Bill.

That's a good starting point from your end of the deal. The're on the other end, of course, and will balk. But get them down as close to that as you can.

I've seen similar Kubota ads, as well as others with similar ads, in the Houston area. I don't think you would go wrong with either tractor. One major consideration would be the reputation and proximity of the dealers. Aren't most John Deeres made in the U.S. now?

The "compact utilities" (anything under 50 HP) are still Yanmars, I think. Made in Japan. By geisha girls.

With these compact tractors you have to really compare what you are getting. All makers have so many overlapping models and different options that can really change the price alot.

I have a Kubota B3030 with loader. Love the tractor. I have had it for a year now. I have a 50 hp Kubota that I have had for 14 years and it is still a great tractor. Can"t go wrong with Orange. Good resell value too.

Seen the same thing in KY Fastline I believe it was, same implements, only the tractor was a Mahindra... got to be real careful with these deals...

Why not see what the JD dealer will do without seeing the ad? That would be more interesting. Especially after getting a price and then showing the ad. I was in a JD dealer a week ago and they had one of the models made in India in the showroom that was around 50 HP. It seemed kind of crude for a JD but the price was S19,000. The Kubota in question seems a little odd. Maybe it's a repo'd tractor, or old stock they want to get rid of? If you don't need the trailer or all the other stuff, get a price without it. It could be an advertising gimmick. Have you looked at MF tractors? That could be another option. Dave
