Olympic blunder!

For most Canadians, the late Terry Fox is considered the greatest canadian ever for his marathon of hope run across canada with an artificial leg. One of the US stations reporting on the Olympics incorrectly identified Terry Fox's mom as Michael J. Fox's mom. He is a great Canadian too but you would think the reporters would have a press release so they knew who everyone was. Dave

Almost every news article that I ever read that I new the details of had glaring errors in it. What makes me think that most of the rest, the ones I don't have first hand knowledge of, are any more accurate? Sometimes they get corrected though, on page nineteen about six days later.

Some years ago, I was interviewed by a local paper reporter over the phone about some neighborhood garage sales. When I read the article, I couldn't believe what was written. Reporter quoted me on some things I never said, had twisted my words to suit the intent of the article. I remember him asking me a question and my answer basically differed from what I think he wanted to hear, so THAT never made it into the article. Since then, I never take what's written at face value. If it doesn't sound right, it may not be.

When the media is ignorant of the most basic things how can they expect you to bring yourself to believe them on anything contriversial?
I watch a pair mis-identify mittens as gloves last night... not just misspoken but making a short story out of them.

I used to write notes & reminders on the palm of my hand, but now I'm afraid that if I did, it would make the national news. ... lol.

How true, yet they are 'experts in everything, and knowledgeable about nothing'.

They are what they are, because they are too stupid to do anything else, but are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars as an entry level airhead, and millions if they look pretty on TV.

They are useless vermin, and should be treated as such.

It is amazing how bad the papers can get with the facts. Read all the time about some WWII vet that flew B52s over Germany during the war. Or how the US Air Force played a major part in winning the war. There was no US Air Force in WWII. It was the Army Air Corp.

Typical media abundant arts or english literature graduate.
You should see how they get the nuclear industry info either backwards or wrong.

Did you see on TV or an internet repeat of last Thursday's Nature of Things? On CBC about Bruce Power and the proposed Bruce Power nuclear plant in Peace River?
Myself and my community was appalled and offended at the bias and outright misinformation.

David Suzuki has a few good points but for the most part is just a do gooder. All the groups that want to shut down the Alberta oilsands operations are no different. I'm sure the 3 US refineries that Syncrude alone supplies don't feel the same way. All these people use the media to twist everything around to their advantage and most of it is load of BS with nothing to back it up. Dave
