Anyone heard of this new Trichomoniasis

just heard about this the other day when it was announced at sale barn i like the part about input from cattleman on the first page when everyone i talked to new nothing about it tell the last few weeks our governor and his cronnies at work in austin again....

I assume you live in Texas? I would think that your bulls could be tested at the sale facility. At least all the sale barns here have vets on hand to do such work. Just call your sale barn. You may have to take the critters in a day or two early so they have time to draw blood or whatever they do. Depending on how the law is written results might not have to be conclusive at sale time but would be sold pending clean test.

There's a front page article about it in the Feb 8th Midwest Plains Journal and it's probably in the High Plains Journal too. They have a map showing the states that do and do not have regulations. The map shows all the states from North Dakota south to Texas and every state west of there do have regulations. Kansas does not have regulations yet but Arkansas and Lousiana do. Sounds like it's a nasty little parasite. Jim

new law applies to lease bulls and those sold as replacements, unless you can prove theyre virgins.
you dont need any tests for slaughter bulls.
