What type of Brake pads work best on the rear of 2000 chevy 1/2 ton pickup? Ceramic or semimetalic or something else? What Brand?

I used semimetallics on the front of my '03 Venture van, and they squeeked so bad you would have thought they were metal to metal. Dad bought the van from me, put ceramics on it, end of problem. So now, when I do my brakes I always use ceramics. Cost quite a bit more, but worth it IMHO! Brand, I don't remember! Greg

Ceramics for no noise and no dust. Use new rotors since they are dirt cheap these days. I used Raybestos Quietstop and Wagner ceramic pads but there are other brands availble now. Rockauto.com is a good source.

I use the carbon metalic pads. Long lasting, great stopping, very little rotor wear & quiet.Only drawback is they leave black brake dust on the rims.

Bendix Gold, semi-metallic. A friend is a mechanic for an ambulance company. That's what they retro-fit all their rigs with. Excellent stopping power, long lasting, full replacement lifetime warranty, they don't eat up the rotors, and decent price compared to competition. I've been using them on my trucks for several years with good results.
