January 6 degrees colder

weatherman in Louiville Ky reported that the Average temp for January 2010 was 6 degrees colder overall... I remember back in grade school having a few days of 70 degree temps . that was in the late 60s'...occasionally we get a reprive from winters icy grip . just didn't happen this year around here ,. so far Febuary has been hard on my woodpile too,. better go feed the Dragon in the Basement before bedtime... I usually plug in the 430 Case while I make coffee 1st thing in the morning ...

appears global warming has given way to the next iceage. sorry think they call it climate change now. harder to be wrong with that handle dont ya think.

In Terre Haute we have had the second coldest winter in 20 years. About fell out of my chair when I heard the news media finally question GB. They started out by giving 3 Time mag articles 1974 on the pending ice age. Then in 2009 Time ran an article of the last polar bear floating on the last ice cube. I think it's about time someone with brains starts to question GB and let the weather run it's cycles.

Howdy

Heard a great promo on local AM radio station here in S. Ohio. They were talkin about using them for weather forecasts but to introduce it they talk about "Eco-hippies recycling everything in sight, getting high efficiency toilets, etc." They they say, "Thanks for getting rid of global warming. Are you happy now? Now we're stuck with cold weather and snow out the wazoo." Probably not the exact wording but it sure gave me a good laugh. Hope everyone's enjoying the winter. I sure enjoy the cold and the snow but then again, I am a bit of an odd turn fella at times. Just wish I had more time to go to the shop and work on the JD R that I'm restoring. Decided to go back to school last fall and those college professors seem to think I eat, drink, and sleep school. God bless.

Louisville isn't the globe. It's one spot on the globe.

And your announcer was fibbing. Louisville was only 5 (or 2.9, depending on which Louisville location you pick) below normal for January. Don't take my word for it, go look it up at the NWS website for Louisville. Bowman field is not reporting departures from average, but the international airport and the weather office both do.

Elsewhere in Kentucky for January:
Frankfort 1.7 below
Bowling Green 2.5 below
Lexington 3.7 below

Meanwhile, at Caribou, ME, January 2010 was 9.7 degrees above average. A delightful 19.2 average, but quite a bit warmer than usual.
Bangor 5.3 above
Houlton 9.1 above
Millinocket 8.8 above

So Maine is considerably more above average than Kentucky is below average, for that particular month.

International Falls, MN was 4.1 above average.
Duluth 2.2 above
Minneapolis 0.1 below
St. Cloud, 0.9 above
Eu Claire, WI 1.2 above
Marquette, MI 5.2 above

Key west, FL 6.1 below average
Marathon, FL 5.4 below average

The cold places are warmer. The warm places are colder. Time to shore up your barns and be careful of your planting dates.

If you want a good laugh, just listen to what the Al Gore supporters are saying now. The latest thing I heard is that these colder than normal temps and all of the snow we are getting is a direct result of the global warming. The theory among the idiots is that the warmer temperatures cause the air to absorb more moisture, and then when the air cools down a bit, that extra moisture is then released in the form of snow, and the snow accumulation on the ground is what causes the temperature to fall even further.

When I heard that theory, I nearly fell off my chair I was laughing so hard.  :?

I got an E-mail about how we hit the solar minimum sun spot cycle in 2007. The cycle IS STILL at a minimum. The day I receive the E-mail there was ONE sun spot. You know that sunspot put out MUCH more energy than the surrounding area. We should be seeing an increase as we would normally be 1/3 of the way to maximum sun spots. This follow an 11 year cycle. ALL of the GW/CC is SUN DRIVE. With the suns output so low maybe we need to install a TURBO-CHARGER to keep this tractor related.

If Al burns wood, which is Carbon Neutral, he will get out of paying Carbon Tax. Guess you could call it a Carbon Tax Loop Hole.
