Didn't Think It Could Happen

Saw a little ditty in the local paper & thought I would pass it along.

With all the snow in D.C. & the Saints winning the Super Bowl, kinda seems like them winning the Super Bowl & He** freezing over can and did happen last week end. Now what's the chance of that happening again. Keep smiling, Spring will be here before too long.

People seem to forget that the reason we play the games is to see who wins, and only one team can win.
No one can ever take away the talents and achievements of Manning, for he is one awesome quarterback.
But it will always be remembered that after the loss, he did not show basic sportsmanship by shaking hands with Brees or any of the others.
We should always play to win, however, understanding that losing is also part of the equation is very basic. And when they do lose, they are charged with showing everyone, including our young people, how to take a loss with class. If they do not have that trait, it makes one wonder what else could be missing or glossed over by their popularity.
Oh well, only over 100 million people saw him do that, no big deal or potential negative impact, eh?

yeah but just think. How many people would have never known that had not the media blasted it over the airwaves. we can make a big stink about that but did you know that there is a small town in oklahome thats been out of power for almost a month? tell me america where is our priority?

Wasn't digging on either team. I'm glad to see the Saints finally get to the S.B. much less to win it. I've always been a Colts fan myself, I'm even happier that He:: froze over & our grear leaders couldn't spend any more of our money for a couple of days at least. Oh well, not to worry, the snow will be gone & they'll make up for lost time, probably spend twice as much to make up for it. Keith

Our leaders would rather we just "Donate Money by Phone", so it can be Diverted and disappear , like the donated money to Haiti disappeared...

It seems just to easy for Obbamy's Mammy to tell us to donate the money in such a way...

Ron..

I'm am not buying the excuse that you offered.
The biggest football game of the year. It is protocol to show the players at the end of the game. It was easy to see what he did and did not do.
The media gets paid to spin emotions.
The media would have spun emotions had the Colts won.
If you play the game, you have to understand all facets.
Yes, we all play to win and love to win, but the true sportmanship is shown in the unlikely event of a loss.
As my coach always said. "We play to win, I keep my job by winning. But should we lose, we learn so much more and we have the opportunity to show what we are really made of."
If our adult athletes do not possess the basics, it is going to be hard to get it across to our young people.

We are in the land of opportunity, or better put, "opportunist".
If only all of the people that collected money were sincere about the cause for which they collect it, the world would be better immediately.
I happened to stop on a channel on Sunday morning, it was the one hour money begging show that comes to us from Baton Rouge, LA.
This guy has been caught with prostitutes twice (no telling how many times he did not get caught)
He and his family live high on the hog, all from donations along with book and tape sales.
One of his sons was pleading for donations, making it sound as though they were on their last loaf of bread.
These people should be shipped out of this great nation, at their cost.

For young kids in sports, trying your best and having FUN is the most important goal, whether you win or lose. That's why some hockey leagues don't even allow the parents to watch. Too many parents and even coaches put way too much emphasis on winning at all costs and that's just plain wrong. There are lots of overpaid professional atheletes that set a really poor example. Not shaking hands after a game isn't the worst example. I suspect he felt totally responsible for the loss. In pro sports it is all about winning. Dave

Well as what was said about the media seems to be true as I understand it Manning called Brees and several others later and congratulated them. It's kinda like Nascar when the lead driver gets wrecked on the last lap and he runs to the trailer, I'm OK with that because it is an andrenalin thing and you may say things that you have to apologize for later that's class unfortunately that doesn't sell tickets. I wasn't a big fan of either team but it gained my respect on both sides and it was a very good Super Bowl! As far as a young people image get over it that went out the window years ago like colleges recruiting kids at 13 yrs old like USC. :-<
