O/T Icebergs

I hear now this administration has directed the CIA to watch icebergs, and not terrorists. I didn't believe it so I looked it up on the net. That right folks, our CIA is watching icebergs. This insanity needs to stop. Stan

You know you have to be mighty careful with those ice bergs, they have been known to sneeeek right up on you when you least expect it.
But if you think about it, maybe they want them to watch them grow and get closer and then send those boy's out in row boats to push them back out to sea so they can pass that cap and tax deal.
Just way too much tax money to waste.

Hey, they are on the payroll anyway, can't catch a terrorist if his pants are on fire, they just might find an iceberg. I'd like to see what they did when they caught one!

Al Goard says these Icebergs are supposed to disappear! They must have backing from our enemys.
Like say Fox News, Rush L., Sarah P.!
Better to be safe than sorry.
Nothing helps a Presidents ratings better than stoping an invasion. Lets bomb the bas$%$#s, that will teach em.

Climate scientists are once again collaborating with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in effort to use their assets such as spy satellites and classified sensors to study changes in clouds, Arctic sea ice, glaciers, deserts and tropical forests, according to a New York Times article.

The C.I.A. runs the program and arranges for the scientists to draw on federal surveillance equipment, including highly classified satellites of the National Reconnaissance Office.

The Bush administration had previously shut down this collaboration.

Scientists, Dr. Norbert Untersteiner, a professor at the University of Washington who specializes in polar ice said, "have no way to send out 500 people" across the top of the world to match the intelligence gains, adding that the new understandings might one day result in ice forecasts, in a statement to the Times.

He probably figures a 2 mile long iceberg would do a lot more damage if it was dropped on D.C. in a suicide attack than a lone terrorist could. And imagine the devastation if they organized and a dozen of 'em were dropped on a major US city.

Perhaps you would prefer noaa design, build, and launch a new application specific satellite just for this rather than say

"hey guys since you are there and it's no big deal, could you assign that spec an ID and have the computer let us know when it moves more than X amount"

I bet you lost sleep over that huh!

Maybe they should take the satellite from the Ag forecasting, move it and use it instead.

It's called science.

Go back to the cheese line and leave the CIA out of tractor forums Period!

They're moon lighting for businesses, if you're expertise is for sale to the highest bidder, forget conflict of interest, maybe you need to be put on iceberg duty.

Na,, they had a "meeting of the minds" a few years back in a bar in Oslo, Norway... After much thought, they decided to build another Viking Ship instead..

I won't lose sleep over them watching iceburgs, but will, when one of these nut jobs gets aboard a plane with a family member aboard, and brings it down. Stan

This is all great politics but...All I really want from a news organization is the truth. Not a political spin on a non-event. You don't really think the satelite is left focused on the ice do you? One quick fix on its position and then come back in a few months to take another fix on its position. Fox or CNN or whatever, all I want is the truth not spin.
