i burn coal im also in pa i got 2 self feeder stoves called stokers ill get through this cold winter for less than $800 to keep my house 73 degrees both story;s plus a little heat in the garage same kind of heat with wood but cheaper if you have to buy wood and tons easier

We used coal back in the 1940's & 50's. We had radiators and it was a 3-story house and it was warm as toast on the coldest days. When I was in the Army back in the 1950's they were looking for volunteers to fire the furnaces for
Bird Colonels & General officers. You didn't need to pull guard duty or any other company duty. We worked 24 on and 24 off. I would bank the fire around 10:30pm and then go home to bed. I did that when I was living at home. I would get up around 4:30am and go in & crank up the heat. I would take out any ashes & sweep up any fallen ashes. We even received additional pay every month. The Generals had stokers in their homes. Hal
