Case 530 Brakes

I'm working on brakes on a Case 530. This system uses a combination of bands and discs. Pressure on the bands slows the drum which in turn causes the balls to ramp out and apply disc pressure on the two covers. When I took things apart I wasn't paying attention and don't know if the splined disc carrier is supposed to be installed toward the transmission housing or toward the outer cover. The word "INSIDE" is cast into the carrier which seems to indicate that it would go toward the transmission housing. The parts breakdown shows the carrier toward the outside cover. Does anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Alan
