Farm Journal and Prairie Farmer. I am not a Farmer and don't subscribe to any, but do subscribe to Oliver Heritage.

Farm Journal is still around, and they still don't put page niumbers on their pages so you can find anything... Otherwise a good ag mag.

Anyone ever heard of Country Gentleman? I have a few copies from one from October 1941..5 CENTS

Farm Journal, Hoard's Dairyman and Washington Farmer. Washington Farmer later became Washington Farmer/ Stockman. There were regional versions of it all over the west- Utah Farmer, etc. I got it for awhile when I started raising cattle in 1973- then decided it wasn't worth the subscription price, and let it lapse- or so I thought. It kept coming. They would send a bill every once in awhile, I would ignore it, and the magazine kept coming. For about 10 years, as I recall. I think their advertising rates depended on circulation, so it was to their advantage to send the magazine free, to keep circulation numbers up. It finally stopped coming in the 80's, and I suppose its out of business now.

Just back from a Google tour- apparently Farm Progress (whoever they are) bought the Farmer/Stockman magazines, merged about six of the western states editions in 1996, and still survives as the Western Farmer Stockman now. At 26 bucks a year. Probably no freebies anymore.

we used to get Farm Journal and Progressive Farmer for free...sometime back in the 80's they started askin too damm many personal questions and i told em both to keep em.
