Steer attached to horses

Heres a photo of my sisters ridin their horses that I keep at my farm. The steer is attached to the horses and will jump any fence just to follow the horses when they go ridin. He was bottle feed and would rather be with the horses than the other cows.
The lighter colored horse is blind in one eye and uses a pony as his seeing-eye dog. Both are old and living out their lives pretty well at my farm.

Its a Case 230. sold it this summer, had needles welded a buch of times before I got it and needed new ones that cost an arm and a leg. Also it was a bit much for my H w/out a live pto. Bought a IH model 46 baler that matches up real good with the H and its non-live pto. Baler has a good flywheel/clutch that works good with that pto set-up.

If steer wants to hang out with horses- put a saddle on him. From a English farm magazine article reprinted by Rodale Press: - a horse collar put on a steer, cow or ox upside down will work and the bovine can be used in a hitch with a horse or pony. Can be used alone to pull horse cart or sled if halter led. If steer isn't going to freezer shortly, get some use out of him pulling a small beer cart for folk festivals. RN

Lot of interest lately in Riding Steers--usually Texas Longhorns but other breeds as well. Take a look at this Youtube vid of Zhigavo. Note--this is a 2300-lb BULL--not a steer!! Hats off to the trainer, and Kids, Don't Try This At Home--hate to see what would happen if Joe Sixpack took a saddle down to the pasture and tossed it his breeding bull!
