Old Sat. dish ideas???

Looking for ideas on what to make/do with the big old sat dish on my farm. I've seen a few things done with them in the Farm Show newspaper.
Ryan in Northern Mich.

Still use mine; subscription through NPS. Direct TV, Dish Network and cable can't begin to compare with signal quality. Only problem is the initial cost of the equipment; if I didn't already have the stuff, I'd probably do something else.

Bring it along on your desert trip- can use it to collect condensation so you don"t thirst. You won"t get hungry, because of all the sand which is there.

thats what i got planned for a old 10' fiberglass dish i got paid to take down...gonna use center hole for recirculation drain.

Can't make this up...I took mine down, the 10' mesh type and told the wife we could give to daughter to scrap it. OH NO! I got a plan!
I now have a painted dish inverted on top of the trellis gazebo I built for her. sigh...

Mount a speaker where the feed pickup is (LNB?), aim the dish at your neighbors place and broadcast a few eery sounds. He'll soon think his place is haunted. Maybe a little hard rock music on occasion.

I have read that they will transmit the sound well over a mile to ???miles.

Yes they do transmit sound very well. Our local museum had 2 one setup one each side of the room. You could talk back and forth using a normal voice. People between you couldnt hear you but you could hear each other it was pretty cool.

Seems like Red Green made his own huge speaker out of one. Filled a 5 gallon bucket with refrigerator magnets, wrapped a bunch of wire around it and put it in the center of the dish. Put it in the back of his van with a whole bunch of batteries hooked in series to power it,pulled up beside some kid with a booming stereo in his car. He opened up the side door of the van and turned it on. Wasn't perty what happened to the car.

Hey J Heitkemper, A buddy of mine had a big 10 foot one and wanted to give it to me, I said sure. He said what in hell are you going to do with it so I explained turn it upside down and make a gazebo at the pool. Guess what? He kept it and now has a gazebo himself.

I don't have any ideas for a large dish but I came across this idea for a small dish last week.

I've known a few kids driving down my street that I'd like to do that to.

There is actually some gizmo made to give feedback which will blow their system but I think that is a bit harsh with so much money invested in them.'

Wish I had see the Red Green clip. Expect I can find it on the Net for that matter. Thanks.
