Front-mounted Snowblower again

I posted a few weeks ago when I was thinking weather a front mounted snow blower could be powered by a tractors hydros.
Was wondering if anyone has ever seen a front mounted blower fab-ed up so its powered off of the tractors side driven belt pulley. Thinking it could be mounted to loader arms and still be raised up and down more than one mounted to the tractors front frame. Just an idea.

I have a front mount snow blower made in state. It is powered by the PTO shaft through a chain drive drop box and a long lineshaft on the blower support frame below the tractor.
Blower lift is by the tractor 3 pt arms pulling a cable and pulley afair that lifts the front of the blower up to 10 inches.

Is your pulley live, or works with the clutch? No fun if it works with the clutch....

Back in the 50's my grandpa and my great uncle bought a snowblower that was belt driven from the side pulley and mounted on the front of the tractor. It had cross augers and a blower but the blower was turned at a right angle to the augers, so the snow was augered only to about a 10" opening and then the blower blew from here. They mounted it on an H, but without being able to clutch the H didnt have the power, they ended up mounting it to the front of an old truck and mounted a combine engine in the back of the truck and ran a belt up to it. Not sure what happended to the grandparents pictures of it.

The belt pulley idea might work, but you would need good horsepower, and or a slow 1st gear if the pulley is not live.

I like the idea of using the loader and hydraulics, but that also depends on your tractors hydrualics and ability to keep the oil from getting too hot if the snow is heavy.

The blower i have pictured is my dads and is a Shulte brand that runs off the pto and has a drive line under the tractor and is lifted from a lift cylnder that bolts to a frame under the front axle. Works good in dry snow but not in wet sticky snow.

Just my two cents worth.I operated a front mounted p.t.o.powered snow blower when I worked at G.R.Ford Airport. However,it was on a N.H.4wd articulating steering tractor with hydrostatic drive and front and rear p.t.o.'s. Both p.t.o.'s could be set at 540 or 1000 rpm depending on the attachment. The Blower had a double auger with impeller and a hydraulic operated chute and we ran it at 1000 rpm. The tractor was rated at 150 h.p. Not much help for you in that I am sure your tractor is somewhat smaller. I am just saying it takes alot of H.P. to pitch that snow any distance and not bog down the tractor. You know Michigan snow can have alot of moisture in it especially when it comes in off the lake making it heavy. Thus the need for MORE POWER. Belts tend to slip when the going gets tough.
You may be alright with a belt drive since you aren't doing a big area and if you take 3/4 cuts after your first pass.Good idea though,Hope it works for you.
