I see the "Special" on the 1010. It's a nice tractor, don't get me wrong, but what is the "Special" all about?
 
I think it was the "economy" model...If there is such a thing on a 1010 LOL!
Starts & runs good though, works fine for no more than I do.
 
That has got to be a real early A, strictly hand start, and that type of steering wheel. DO you know the year? 1939 or 1940?

It's an old one, I'll get the ser #& check it on here. Been in the family for 60+ years! It's so light, just move the "custom" wheel chock rock and ease her back a little. Starts easy, 2nd or third crank if I been using it lately. Parked it up close for the winter. The old 1010 is the same as it was in the late 60's when my Dad bought it. Red Green still on? Remember he had a fondness for duct tape.

Also a low-cost Special Row Crop Utility (RUS) version was made that was $300 less than regular models. It had only a pan seat and 540 RPM PTO."
 
Thanks Lefty, I thought I had read where the special was a lower cost unit. Here's a pic of what my seat is like. This is not a pan is it?
