Here is the Case 400, its on a NH 518 manure spreader. I know its hard to see, its in a barn with little light. There is also a bull in there in a pen. Can you see the eyes of a kitty, by the tractor tire? Dont know what I like least, the tractor or the bull! LOL

The engines in them old Case tractors were built to last. We had a 700. Same thing as 400 but differant skin. Put about 10,000 hours on it before overhaul. Had some trouble with the hydraulics when it was new. After we got that worked out, no other problems. Nephew has it now with 16,000 hours and no other problems yet.

whats wrong with a 400? My dad had a super dsl. years ago and I had one for awhile. Nice gear selection and alot less clumbsy than those friggin 2-bangers.

That old Case 400 is a thing of beauty to me. I spent hours on a narrow front 57 dsl when I was in my early teens. It had a green Case mounted cultivator that was rather combersome, and a cheap Tractor Supply Co umbrella mounted over the seat. With all that and my jug of cool water, I was king of the world. The old Case is still around and still does anything thats asked of it. Dad sold the cultivator for scrap years ago.

Its ok, but It dosent have power steering, and you have to climb up the back of it to get on it.

Had a 400 Case for many years.Had a Duall loader on it with power stering. The hydrualics weren"t the greatest, filter was small. It ran the NH273 baler mostly. My wife couldn"t never get the hang of the high and low range shift.

yes ps is big improvement, I have a step on my early 830 and get on from the front as I did on my 400, climbing over the eh is tougher even with the step that bolts on the pto bolts
