Parting Out...

..don't you like to see the words "parting out" when you really need an inexpensive part and hate to see those words when you don't. I saw a wd45 on Craigs list that looked pretty good but it was being parted out. I guess you sacrifice a few to save the many. (Dang!, I sound like the IRS!)

I know what you mean. Looked at a catalog for a tractor salvage yard and wondered why they quit with good looking equipment. We keep our heavy equipment next door to a scrap yard and I have to be careful where I park my truck when i go over there because I'm afraid they will crush it. They don't salvage any parts of vehicles over 10 years old and mine is 18. What really hurts is when I see vehicles better than I am driving being scrapped.

I asked a guy how much he wanted for a truck he was hauling to the crusher, he told me $300, told him to you go ahead and get your $50. Cheaper scrape at the time.

I pass a house every day in NJ that has been for sale. It was a real nice older house in good shape . IT sat on a nice lot looked to be about 2 acres. Last week it was demolished, there is a sign out coming soon 2new homes.

Howdy Neighbor!

My next door neighbor just chopped up a couple 782 Cub Cadets that I've been after him to sell me for the last 5 years. I offered him way more than they were worth as complete tractors. He sold various parts and pieces for quite a bit more than the worth of both. Hard to argue with his logic, just equally tough to watch something not so common go away for good.

Did you fare well in the ice and snow yesterday?

Ever watch "Holms on Homes"?

What looks good from the street can turn into crap real easy when you examine it close. Termites could easily have the place a money pit looking for a sucker.

I've seen Stamm Equipmet run tractors into the shop that would make you drool. Then they get out the hoist, the impact wrenchs and the torch. They make for a lot of good looking parts. Kinda like making sausage though. You just don't wanna see what went into them.

Bill Gates bought 3 or 4 homes on contiguous waterfront lots (Lake Washington) east of Seattle, for several million bucks total- they demolished all the houses, combined the lots, and built his mansion.

As my dad used to say, "I don't care if you're rich or poor, its always good to have money."

But you see all the time people posting on here they got ticked on a low ball offer and send something to scrap for even less. We are all a bit hot headed sometimes.
