Great pic. Thanks for sharing. I especially enjoy it because I have 70 AND because it reminds me of summer in the midst of winter.

Gordo, That"s last cutting hay, (north central Iowa) Alfalfa, timothy, and red clover. September 15,09. We had a poor year for haying, very wet for a long spell early and then so dry you couldn"t buy a rain and so the 3rd cutting was short but beautiful lush green and still looks that way in the bales. Just wish it would have had longer to grow but my dad had always told me growing up "don"t ever cut hay after september 15th or you will be at risk of winter kill", and that advice has served me well.

that takes me back, the first tractor I drove [I was 8 years old] was my grandfathers John Deere 70 good thing we were in a BIG hayfeild, I managed to run over a few haybales and thought grandpa would be angry but I think he was both kind of proud and amused , darn tractor wsa huge back then

You're looking good on your 70 trailing that 450 sickle mower.

Alot like the others on the forum, we're just waiting for springtime.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Here's a little more <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYxv_HsWGHg">tractor therapy<a/> if anyone wants it.

Great pictures ! Just about can smell the cut grass.Sure makes a guy want to get the tractor out of the shed. Hey what's that Charlyn or Behlin steering units? Are they factory or some kind of bolt on steering unit? Can I get one for the 60?Thanks

Blaine, it"s a Behlin unit and it is add-on, a little more than just bolt on (requires cutting the steering shaft), works well. I had two different 60s with Charlyn units, they are a little more compact and cleaner looking but I think the Behlin works just a little better.

Drake, it is very original (around 1600 hrs)always starts, will idle so slowly you would think it is going to quit but just chugs along. John Deere put it on the dyno, 56hp. Not new but I like it.

Woah! Those are some low hours! You must take good care of her.
I always thought those 60s and 70s with the square widefronts looked good also.

Nice pic, I'm sick of snow ,rain, mud. I put up a pic of raking to go with your mowing, hope you don't mind,,, Rickey
