2003 Ford Escape 3.0L Not Running

I have a 03 Escape with the 3.0 6 cylinder engine. I can get it to start and it idles fairly good, but as soon as you touch the gas pedal it tries to rev up but imediatly then wants to die. You can work the pedal and kind of keep it running. I have changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, and the Idle Air Control Valve. I have also sprayed WD-40 all over checking for vacuume leaks. Nothing has helped. The coils on the plugs all have good spark. I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Probably the fuel pump... Check the pressure. I'm not sure on the spec but it's probably in the mid 30 # range.
Could get a code reader and see what codes it's throwing if the light is on...

Home many miles on the car? Have NEVER let the fuel level in the fuel tank run below 1/4 of a tank. The fuel in the tank COOLS the pump. I have seen car that someone just put enough fuel in to get around eat pumps left and right. Had a local gal that did this. Car had less than 100K on it and I help tow it to a shop for it's fifth fuel pump install.

Thanks for the help guys. Checking the fuel system was my next thought. Just wanted to see what you guys had to say. The tricky part is that it is not tripping any trouble codes.
Thanks again.

Unplug the MAF(mass airflow sensor) and see what it does.If it runs better, there's your culprit.

Low fuel pressure or bad pump will probably not throw a code... but it may throw a code on an O2 sensor for running lean.
I've had that on my Ranger. Forget if it was related to the fuel pump failing or not, but I can't remember what else I changed other than the pump....
The stuttering and stalling is most likey pump related tho. Been there, done that. 3 times.
Make sure to clean the tank as theres probably dirt in there that's ruining the pump....

There should be a schrader valve somewhere on the fuel rail, I think on the left side. A normal 'wet' type tire gauge should read it fine.

check your air filter, pulled mine out once to change and took to parts house but only made it about a mile when car started to act like it was empty, replaced old filter till I got new and it ran fine. Too much air flow for sensors.
