Square Dancing Tractors at the Pennsylvania Farm Show

My wife and I enjoyed a day at the Pennsylvania Farm Show last week. The highlight of the visit was the square dance with a bunch of Farmall row crop tractors joined by some John Deeres, an Oliver, an AC and a few others.

My question is why are Farmalls so prominent in this sport? Are there any troupes in Ontario? Anybody have a Farmall B narrow front looking for a good home?

Those guys sure seemed to be having fun.

Hi Rod: Farmall super C were used inbig promo of the then new 2 point FastHitch. They had various implements for each and at the time to exchange partners, each tractor would park/unhitch implement and move over to hook up the next implement. The drivers were very good and all hitch & Re-hitch was very fast with the 2pt FastHitch and that was the big Sales pitch from IHC. I thought it was great the first time I saw it at the Mn state Fair. I even gave our tractors a few spins around back behind the barn.. Early 1950's Maybe 52-53. ag

I saw that square dance routine, I think on U-tube, fairly recently, but with all I-H's. A two or three minute segment. I wonder how many times they had to shoot it, to get a flawless performance. lol.

Wow! Where but on Yesterday's Tractors would you get that kind of tractor history? You should contribute that bit to the Wikipedia history of square dancing tractors.

Hello again: I think many should recall that.. The new 2 point FastHitch promo was only 57 or so years ago. Yesterdays tractors has people talking about using steel rear wheels and distilate fuel which is pre WW-2. Maybe I am just happy I can remember those years. Farmall C series is my favorite followed by the red/white '57-'58 230,350 & 450. Thanks for asking Rod.. I'll let you forward that info. ..ag
