My mom is 70 and lives alone. A guy tried to break into her house and she shot him with her 38! I knew she was tough but CRAP! Police been looking for this guy but now I gotta go to court with her and walk through a bunch of bull. Next time I will be sure to knock!!!!

GOOD FOR HER!!! Better watch out though, he may come back to finish the job, or get retaliation. More than likely though, he will just seek an easier target.

A long time ago I had an elderly blind uncle who lived alone with a housekeeper. They heard someone breaking in the outer poarch, the housekeeper got the gun and pointed uncle and gun toward the poarch. He fired a warning shot, cops caught the guy and uncle got a nice newspaper article. Sorry those times are past - good luck with your hearing.

Contact the NRA. They love stories like this and frequently print them in their publications.

Good for her. Wishing you the best in the hearing.

Gold-Dot Bullets would have changed the outcome..!!

I do prefer a 10"Barreled .410 Pistol with 3" #6 shot..!!

Works wonders on Groundhogs from the tractor seat, too..!

Wonderful!!!! A real heartwarming American story. This time, the guy who deserved to get it got it. YEA. Let's hear it for mom.

Glad your Mom is OK.. Keep an eye on her, make sure she is OK, that she does not have any stress related issues... I remember several incidents here, where women in danger shot a burglar in self defense.. All the court stuff was just a formality.. After it was over, they were hailed as heros...

A friend of mine used to be a county deputy. One night he got a prowler call at the isolated rural home of an elderly lady in an area that was noted for having problems.. When he got there the ladies small front porch floor was almost completely covered with 30 carbine brass. when he asked her about it she stated 2 men broke a window and were trying to get in when she went out on the porch with the carbine her son had given her. She had emptied the entire 30 round clip in the direction of their pickup. When I asked him what he did, he replied " [b:1e6591463f]I showed her how to reload[/b:1e6591463f]".

I love to hear a story like that with a good ending for the intended victim. Your Momma sounds like one heck of a woman. It's high time all of us had the cajones to stand up for our rights and refuse to be victims liike she did. If that happened then I think crime would go to an all time low in this country. Instead our Pres and his cronies feel that none of us have a right to protect ourself....they will do it all for us...NOT

Like Nancy said contact the NRA and get your mom's story in their magazines in the "armed citizen" section. I just got the new American Hunter in the mail today and I love to read tha type of story, and I'm sure they would love to have the story to print. Too, if some idiot decided to press charges against her I imagine they would be able to either provide an attorney or at least make a recommendation for a good one. If nothing else the NRA is adament about the individual right to self defense and defends that right at every opportunity.

Similar Things have happened here and Solicitor came out and said that if somebody comes in his house He would shoot them and He did not intend to prosecute anyone who did the same. Police Chief said to kill them because that is what he intended to do. I don't know where you live but down here She would be a Hero. One or two well placed 38 slugs will usually stop'um from sucking eggs.

Now as long as the thief doesn't try to sue because he might have a scar or something. The sad part is some dumb lawyer would take his case and try to collect money. The judicial system stinks in this country.

Reminds me of the story Paul Harvey told about the former Miss America of WWII timeframe. She was up in her 80s when she shot the tire out on a pickup that two perps were using to steal her stuff. When the sheriff showed up the perps said she tried to shoot them. Sheriff said: " I know this lady. If she'd tried to shoot you you'd both be dead. She shot at your tire." Nice lady. Her picture was on the nose of a bomber that flew over 50 missions over Germany. Never lost a man.

I doubt if it will get ugly, but if it should....be sure not to waive your right to a jury trial. No jury of peers will convict. They are as tired of this crap as we are.

That is to bad. Buy her a shotgun. Then all she has to do is point and shoot. Hope she has better aim if it happens again.

Sorry to hear that she was placed into that position by no fault or intent of her own, but very glad to hear that she handled and came through it well.

You can tell her for my family, friends, neighbors, and myself that we're both proud of her, and very offended that a preditor forced her into such a situation. Also, wish her God-speed from all of us, as well as a long, happy, and prosperous future.

I'll share a true story with you.

A few years ago, over there in South Bend, there was an elderly fella, in his 80's as I recall, lived in a pretty bad neighborhood. Wasn't bad when he and his wife bought it and raised their children in it. Might've been going down hill when his partner and wife passed away. It was their home though, so he stayed on. Somehow, a fella in the neighborhood took a disliking to him and began causing trouble for him, going out of his way to pick on the old fella and cause property damage and the like. Enough was enough, the cops started getting called out, and on one occasion, the preditor went to jail, vowing to get even with the old fella when he got out of jail. Warm day, the old fella was sitting on his porch, the preditor got out of jail and kept his promise, came right up the street and after the old fella. The old fella went into the house, locked and bolted the door, and the preditor began trying to kick the door in. The old fella had a handgun, and kept shouting that he had a gun and would shoot if the preditor came in. That didn't stop the preditor from kicking the door in and charging the old fella across his living room, in his own home. The old fella shot and killed the preditor right there on the floor. The old fella was cleared, it was done in self defense, so no charges. Now get this. The South Bend cops took up a collection amongst themselves, bought him a new door, and even replaced it. Nice guys, I'm proud of them.

I too have a mother that I love dearly, and she knows how to shoot, as do my sisters, and even my blind brother by sound. I take them all out to practice quarterly.
