OT (On topic for a change) Houston, TX tractor dealer.

Back around the mid 1980s I visited in Houston, TX and came across a Pasquali tractor dealer which I remember as being a sub company of a Ford dealer.

Tonight I came across some photos I took at the dealership and in one it shows Southern Tractor Corporation.

I'm wondering if the dealership is still around. I'm assuming that it was never successful as a lot of the brand new tractors had parts robbed off of them even back then.

Would anyone care to tell me more about that dealership, etc.? Expect the lot had 200-300 tractors on premises and for sale. Wonder if the dealer didn't import an entire ship load of them. lol

Most were low orchard like models, small and articulated. There were also units that were basically a BCS styled two-wheeled tractor but had a rear u-joint, fairly long tongue which the driver sat over, leading to a powered utility cart. Much like the third world photos of carts loaded very high and being pulled by small engine units.

Should be a lot of used units of both around since there were so many of them.

i dont remember the dealership but theres still a few Pasquali's out here west of Houston...i think theres a guy that collects/sells parts in Brenham,or Bellville...he advertises in the local electric coop on occassion...if i see it again i'll try and post his info on here.

Southern Tractor Co went out of business long ago. My neighbor was a mechanic there and bought one of the Pasquali tractors. It was a neat 'toy' tractor and articulated in the middle. The dealer, southern tractor co., had many tractors and lots of brands and I used to buy parts there from my Bolens/Iseki tractor. They had a big shop and lots of mechanics and a large parts dept. However, they went out of business somewhere around 1994.

A thanks to each of your for providing me with the information a was after.

I'm really surprised the dealership lasted as long as it did considering the number of canibbalized tractors on the lot, but then again its willingness to rob parts from new machines rather than waiting for imported parts may be just what kept them in business so long.

There were certainly interestingly configured units on the lot to this flatlander that had never really seen small tractors before other than a few Yanmar.

Thanks
