pulled the block with pistons in it and drove 1 out the other one is in the press with pressure on it and pb blaster soaking with any luck when I check on it tomorrow it will have moved a little and we can get it bored and order new pistons and gaskets. looks like the rods are in great shape to re-shim and use. Kinda enjoying the new adventure of this 2 cylinder. I have a good teacher that is instructing me. He says he can't remember ever working on a D but alot of the other 2 cylinder JDs

I have that same problem with a J.D. B.Was it hard to get the cylinders off the block when its stuck like that ?

it was kinda hard to get the rod bolts as we couldn't turn it and 1 was almost all the way back had to grind down a socket on both ends to get it in there a wrench was bent and would hit every way I tried it. pull the whole block pistons and all and you can work on 1 at a time instead of trying to turn the crank and both pistons. does yours have alot of build up or just surface rust

Not sure have not started that project yet .I have to much other stuff to work on no time for the toys.I think it's going to be bad thou carb was all gummed up.Full of a lot of rust.

Be careful with the press, you can break block all to thunder. I like to stand the block up, put a cup or two of break fluid on top side of piston wad a paper shop towel up for a wick and light it on fire. When it burns out get a cut down fence post, lay the block on the ground and drive the piston out the back. Heat is amazing.
