Wife is looking for a sewing machine. A Bernina
embrodiery machine. 730c quite expensive, I say no but dont know yet. At the Bernina dealer they have a new one for $7000. and a used one equal to the 730 for $4500. I did some reseach on the net and found one in Indonsia for $15-1600. Well I am not going to order from there, but do you think that the dealers in USA are buying these and selling for the price above? If this is legitimate would I be able to do the same? The address was Jakarta,USD I am scared as H--- to do it and will not. Just wanting your take on something like this. Shipping,plus duty cost, just not worth the risk.
 
Is this a commercial pc. of equipment? $7000 for a fancy sewing machine? If you are making boat canvas tops, and repairing them and making tents then maybe. I wouldnt buy anything from Jakarta.
 
I don't know about embroidery but quiting is big business and machines can run from $3K to $25K.
 
We looked at one of them three years ago. It was way too rich for our blood. And no, it is not a commercial type but would handle some pretty tough sewing. Bought a Brother , it can be difficult at times with all the different patterns and stitches. Problem is, I have to get involved in figuring out how to run it and I do not have any interst in sewing. I bought a 12 gauge Benelli Ultra light for my life time splurge, wouldn't trade it for several sewing machines.
 
What we won't do for our little women. What we get in return is "Why do you need all those tools, you never use them".

Maybe the dealer will let her tryout the $4500 machine and if she doesn't like it then take it back for full credit on the new $7,000 one. It will be difficult to get help if the Jakarta / Indonesia one is not working properly.

You never know she may be able to let out your pants if she gets some free time between making drapes.
 
Figured you'd know all about quilting. Nothing about tractors, farms, or anything rural, but we know who to come to when we have quilting questions.
