Need to fill a couple rear tires. Where can I get calcium cloride to mix with water? Will ice melt works. I'm in east central Wisconsin

Try a local Feed mill or anyone who might keep it on hand for your townships to put on the roads and such. You can order it on line too. Comes in flakes or granuale I believe. I had bought the flakes before. You mix it with water. Good luck.

You are going to make a particularly aggressive type of salt water? Then pour it into your metal tractor that you depend upon and cost you thousands of dollars?

Most of the readymix concrete plants keep it on hand. Around here they all sell it to the public...
CaCl is the cheapest form of weight you can add.

Have you ever thought of checking into something that isn't so corrosive?..anti-freeze from a junk yard they usually give it away or sell it next to nothing..

Says right in the owners manual "Don't use automotive antifreeze". Don't know why, maybe it'll rot the rubber.

What he said....and IS NOT a corrosion problem unless you're inclined to use leaky tubes and NEVER repair them. I've got a tractor sitting in my shed now that's been in the family for 55 years. It's had cal/cl mix since day one. Not the first sign of rust one either rear wheel.

I dont think antifreeze would be a good idea if the tire springs a leak ytou will have a TOXIC liquid pouring out on your place and any pets or livestock that come in contact with the stuff will probably die also would you want this stuff to maybe get into your well? the scrapyards are dumping their problems on you and if there is a leak you will be the one to take the hit

Anti freeze is toxic so that is one reason not to use it. Any good farm and home place should have it as should most places that do ag tires. My self I us WSWF

i buy it from our local fs (farm service) about 14 dollars for a 50 lb bag, i use the flakes, it dissolves quickly.

I can,t figure it. Here in the mid south nobody uses calcium. All dealers install in new tractors is a mixture of 1/3 methanol and 2/3 water. I think it goes down to somewhere around
10 deg or so. Could you not just mix it a little stronger and use it up north. Gets about 8.2 lbs
per gallon. Seems to satisfy most everyone.
I have no idea of the cost factor is the calcium that much cheaper or do you use calcium because it weighs a little more. I know this has been discussed a dozen times on here, I have always wondred why methanol was never mentioned. You see beet juice, antifreez, windshield washer fluid and host of other things. It is just so common in these parts Methanol is all anyone uses.

We always have the tire dealer do it. No muss no fuss on our part. It does cost some money, but well worth it in our eyes. Our tire dealer is Pat's Tire in Chilton. Don't know how close that is to you, but probably a little too far.

On the other hand, if all we need is fluid in a tire, we don't just run out and call them out to fill the tires. My brother needs some weight in his 550 and wants to fill them, but he's waiting it out until we have a need for them to come and fix a tire. Hopefully that's a ways off yet but we've got one tractor that has a larger cut in the sidewall. No tube yet, but sooner or later it'll show. It's got probably 25 years on those tires too.

Local tire store quit handling it a few years ago, would like to know where to find local, Northwest Ohio

Gemplers has it, 50# bag $24.95 and other supplies (www.gemplers.com) They are located in Wisconsin and have a online cataloge. Hope this helps. John in Colorado

I just figured it"s easier to put it into the valve stem than dump it in the differential and expect it to migrate to the wheels, even if it is mostly downhill. "Course, with the "37 WC, some would still be in the bottom of the pumpkin.
