making a hydraulic multiplier with combine parts?

Hello all,
I had talked to several of you about hydraulic multipliers for my 4320 JD. I appreciate all of the input you gave me. I am curious though, several of you gave me information on using combine hydraulics and put them on my sprayer, then use two sets of hoses instead of 3-4 sets. Would you guys provide me with a detailed descripton of how to do this? Pictures would be great or specific parts, I am not very good with hydraulics! Thanks again for all your help in the past forum.

That is what I did to get another port. Mounted them on the sprayer. Split one into two.

I needed 4 and only had 3 on the tractor.

Remember if you get them from a combine they will have to be one with electric solenoids to control them.

So they will have to be off of a newer combine and may be pricey.

There would still be a demand for the newer modeled stuff.

So is what model of combine did you get this part from and which part did it operate, header reel height, unloading auger, or something else? I suppose I could make the fittings work however, my sprayer has pioneer ends and the tractor is still old JD style. Since it is closed-center it shouldn't make a difference....correct? Thanks for the picture, I appreciate your help already!

Most, if not all of the combines in the boneyard will have open center systems. Your tractor has a closed system. The open center valves from a combine will work, but you will want to leave the tractor hyd lever in neutral until you want to raise/lower/fold the sprayer boom.

I'm assuming combine valves might not be all that expensive because of low demand. Just guessing......

I'm trying to run through my mind what to look for. The two way functions on a Case IH combine are fore-aft reel, auger swing, unload on and off, separator on and off. Header up and down is single acting and reel up and down is single acting also. Header on and off is sometimes a valve that's separate from the main cluster. Gleaners used a lot of electric clutches so I don't know if they would have enough two way valves. I'm not familiar enough with Deeres and Masseys, but to get enough valves for your application it's gonna have to be a fairly new machine.

This is a regular multiplier that I bought.

They do make 4 ways you can buy.

I would look at IH combines if I were going to use ablock from a combine. They were the first to use electric controled hydraulics.

I don"t see a need to use only elec/hyd from a combine, rather than mechanical. They could be tractor or sprayer mounted, controlled by levers. All depends on the setup. ie- pull-type sprayer behind a cab tractor, elec/hyd makes more sense. Ends are easy to switch to match the couplers, and it doesn"t matter what the valve controlled before- just use single or double acting as needed.
