In December, I bought a tractor mounted winch off the YT for sale forum. Just wanted to let you guys know about the guy I bought it from in western Pa., Cochranton to be exact. The fellow's name is Feron Dalton and he is sure one nice gentleman. It was colder than all get out when I got there, he fired up his tractor & loaded it for me then showed me 2 of the nicest Ford 800 series 4X4 tractors that I've ever seen (mint condition). Just wanted to let you know if you deal with him---HE'S HONEST AND A PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH. Thanks Keith Molden
 
You mean the 800 series Fords from the '50's/ 60's? 4 wheel drive? Never heard of such a thing- wish you had pics!

Nice to hear he was a good guy to deal with- sometimes we focus way too much on the evil ones, without giving kudos when they are deserved.

Elenco made FWD conversions for Ford tractors of the 55-64 vintage. Though not common, there are quite a few around.

The Elenco system used a chain drive from the transmission/pinion gear shaft running through the left side inspection cover hole to a driveshaft extending forward on the left side to a Dodge Power Wagon front axle assembly.

Not sure exactly what model 800 series they were, but they sure looked factory to me. They were the first ones I have ever seen also. The one was by serial # the last one off the assembly line I guess. They sure were sharp tractors. I didn't see any chains, there was a driveshaft going from the rear to the front on the left side of the tractor, the running board on that side was different to accomodate the drive shaft. Keith
 
Every one that I have seen has been on XX1.A dealer friend told me that a lot of towns bought them. Did he have ag or snow tires on them? They look a lot better to me with the big wide snow tires like they came with originally instead of the wimpy little Ag/bar tires.
