No oil pressure after oil change in 8n.

My little 9n with an 8n engine normally has 15-40 psi of oil. I changed the oil and filter last night and now it wont pick up. Is this common, is there a simple way to prime these monsters ? I have let it run for a while, and it is not picking up at all, 0 oil pressure.

On the front of the engine there is a cap screw with a spring behind it. You can pump some cornhead grease or gear grease in there and it may prime the pump. It is also possible that when you removed the drain plug you dislodged the pick-up tube,if that is the case you are screwed. The pan must be removed and the pickup resoldered to the pump.

Don't run the engine at all until you get it fixed. Turn the engine over without starting it to check for oil pressure after you prime it. Dave

If the oil pump pickup tube is broken lose at the tube-to-pump joint, you can reach in thru drain hole & feel the looseness. If so, then as others said, it is pan removal time. You can see below. Also, the place to prime. Don't drop the relief plunger &/or spring.

Hey there, thanx to everyone who offered up their advice to help me out, just to let u know, I primed the oil galley at the pressure relief, hit the starter and it had 45psi instantly ! Little bit high in my opinion, but hey, thats another day, least its workin, God bless Henry.

Pitch, I have a jubilee and it takes 15 seconds before my oil guage starts to move and another 15 seconds before it builds to 40 psi. Changed oil to 5W20..didn't help. What do you think my be the problem?

It sounds like the oil line between the engine and the gauge is filled with oil. Flush out the line so that it has only air in it and see if the gauge doesn't respond much quicker.
