Well I just got it working again a few days ago and now no water again. Not sure what is wrong yet but figure maybe it has to do with the record temps and it getting down below 0 last night. I figure I'll go out around noon and check it out but sure would be nice if things would be nice and just work like they should.

Is your pressure switch on top ot the well head Rich? Up here in the north country we use antifreeze in the pressure switch instead of water. Wonder if that's what's ailing it this time since you had it apart just the other day.

Rich, I'm south of you in AR. Pipes in my well house were frozen yesterday morning, first time ever. I even had a heat lamp in the house on the pipes...Just too bitterly cold. Couple minutes with a torch thawed them out though.

New pressure switch and it is in the on position and has power on all 4 legs of the switch. Pump does not seem to be getting on again because normally when it comes on you can see the pipe move and it isn't. Starting to wonder is maybe the pump burned up and was on its last legs when I pulled it last week and just went out on me

submersible pumps can kick when they come on, if you don't have plastic disc on the pipe it can wear the wire in two, i have had this happen twice now, the second time the disc came loose and fell to the pump. if you have to pull the pump be sure andcheck your wires carefully.

What is real bad about this is I had to pull the pump about a week ago because of the wires going bad and it has new wire all the way down to the pump so I can not see the new wire going bad in just a week. I also made sure the wire was taped to the pipe real well so it would not be likely yo wear bad and I know there is no way it would in just a week or so

my experience in this sort of thing has been that the problem is in what I did last. Did you run new wire all the way back to the switch? or do you have a splice? If so did you use a water proof splice?

New wire ALL the way to the pump which is 100 foot down. That new wire then goes to the pressure switch and that switch has voltage but if I open and close the switch by hand with the power on I get NO sparks like I should and like it would do 2 days ago

do you have a A/C amp meter ? if so clamp it around one of the wires to the motor . it should show current draw for the motor if its runing . could be running with frozen pipe . if you didn't crimp the wires good at the motor they may have come loose .

No amp meter and the wires should not have come loose because of the way I hook them up and taped them real well to boot. Also the normal motor hum is not there either

My pump quit last week, too. the switch was closed and calling to start. i had power on the switch but the points were apparantly NOT making contact. I shut off the power and used a small piece of sandpaper between each set of points...like you would on an old set of points on a tractor. it workded great! check to be sure they are making good contact. If they are, and you have new wire...either the pump has quit or maybe you do have a freeze.that's all it could be.

New pressure switch and with the power on it has 230v on all terminals so I know it has power to the wires going to the motor. Not likely to be some thing frozen because I do not get the normal pipe twist when I turn things on
