Exporting corn

Local grain coop is waiting for a couple of grain trains to come in. Destination for the corn is Canada. Corn is to be blended in with coal to burn in power generating plants.

Seems like they might better turn it into ethanol first. At least we would have a byproduct to feed.

Yea,I guess I wouldn't either if it's bad. Makes for a real big corn stove don't it? I saw where they were blending grass with coal at the power plant in Lexington Ky a while back. Kinda thought that would just go up with a big POOF,but the corn would give more heat and last longer.

Corn has about the same BTU's as coal. I saw a 60 Deere turned into a melted twisted hulk when it sat in the alleyway of a full corn crib that burned. Jim

If the corn has the bad mold on it going into the distiller it has triple the mold in the ddg. You do not want to feed that to animals.

Exactly- we had mold this fall...there are several different types. Ins man came, and luckily, ours was not toxic. Most blew off in harvest and drying.
