The book that I ordered for the wife for Christmas from Amazon.com finally came today. It was mailed via US Postal Service from 450 miles away December 11th. There was a code sticker on it that said in big letters "Detroit". 50% unemployment in that town and the ones that are working can't even do their job. They're about as swift as the TSA. Can't WAIT til the same government is deciding if and when I can even get a Band Aid.

At my work we get ALOT of componants in from all over. We also are getting a VERY HIGH number of wrong or incomplete items. Seems like maybe these companies canned the good workers who knew what they were doing and now have people working there that don't have a clue. Some think maybe the higher up management got moved to shipping ?
One thing for sure is it's hard to get things as no one stocks anything either.

I used to have complete faith in the postal service. I thought they did an amazing job. That being said right around Christmas we had four or five expense voucher check of my guys never make it.

My gripe is the mail order pharmacy I use to get my medications from. I did not get a single order filled the last half of 2008, and all through 2009, that went off without problems. I was so ticked I called Blue Cross Blue Shield and after talking to them twice, saw no advantage to dealing with the mail order so now I am working with the local, hometown pharmacy. Much rather give them the business than some outfit in Dallas where I can never call and get a real person that speaks passable english.

My rant for the night.

I am fed up with the postal service. I go into the local office and stand in line for 20 minutes! They lost a shipment coming to me last fall. $350 lost! Last week I sent a package from east PA to West PA and now it in in California! Tonight I got a package returned. It got to Texas, "got damaged" and was returned to me empty Now I have to refund the buyer $118 since the manual is missing... Time to go UPS!

Really can't figure out how a lot of things works. Wife worked for UPS over the holidays as helper on local truck. Every day they delivered 25 or 30 packages to the local post office. Seem the USPS is farming out their package delivery to UPS.No wonder the govt is broke.

The first week of December, 2009, my wife gave me a Christmans present that she'd ordered for Christmas, 2008. It took over a year. Didn't bother to ask if the shipping was delayed or if it was delayed en route.

welding man,

You've got it turned around, It's UPS that's "farming out their package delivery" to the Post Office, not the other way around as you said. UPS does this in some rural ares because it's cheaper for them in sparsely populated areas.

don't think the USPS is Robinson Crusoe, I have a Roadside delivery which eminates from the mail exchange in a Regional City 10 kms away. Two letters from my Bank posted on 21st Dec were delivered to me 8 days later, could say they travelled 1.25 km per day.Obviously took the scenic route. This is in OZ.

Why cant a black guy run the white house....

Cause ten blacks cant even run a white castle.

ha ha.

I live just north of Detroit and between the last Mayors crap and the dishonest city counsil and the auto industry in the crapper "were in trouble".

The Detroit public school system is so bad that the state is offering $7000.00 a year per student to teach them in other districts.

It's called schoo of choice . With this the other citys have become "hores" for the money.

With all these Detroit students comes problems we never had, what a shame.

I undestand parents wanting better for there kids. We have all herd the saying " you can take them out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of them" .

The inner city come with them and so does crime.

Sorry this is off topic but i live to near to Detroit and mention of it just fired me up.

There's no saving people who refuse to even speek english correct.

I like how the USPS has gotten more "efficient" lately. I cannot mail a local letter at the post office any more. It used to be I could drop it in a "local" slot and the people in my home post office sorted it there. Now, to mail a letter, I have to drop it into the regular mail slot. The letter then goes completely across the state where they sort it, and then it comes back to my home town. Lately, we have had several pieces of local mail (checks for paying local bills actually) that have been lost, most likely because the envelope has to go 500 miles before it goes to a local business. And people wonder why the cost of mailing a letter keeps going up.

The pendulum of corruption has to swing all the way to the left before it will start to swing back. It's not even near the leftward end of the travel yet.

It fired me up when they showed the Detroit City Council on the news when the state wanted to bail out Cobo Hall. That council woman was just WAILING about "white europeans" taking over "our" city. She was going on about the trail of tears and I don't know what all. Just disgusting.

My wife talked to one of the bigshots at UPS about it. It's not just rural. They have a cheap shipping method called "UPS General". It's cheaper than UPS Ground. There will be a PT in the shipping code on the label. Postal Transfer. It's up to the shipper what they want to pay for shipping. Our UPS driver said he had a woman right here in town that has medical supplies sent to her for her husband. Even though she's right in town, and he has other packages for her now and then,THOSE packages HAVE to go to the post office because they have the PT in the code. She then has to leave her husband at home alone, get in the car and drive to the post office. It's all because the company that is SHIPPING the packages to her is saving money on shipping.
