Snowplow Hyd. Unit for three point hitch lift?

Hi
Have any of you guys ever used an electric hyd. pump etc from a snow plow setup for the lift of a Home made three point hitch? I have an old 1945 Farmall H. and was just wondering why it wouldnt work. If you have any feed back or pics or thoughts thats what I am looking for. Prob would need to enlarge the fluid reservoir? thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.

Don't see why it wouldn't work, but it would probably be limited in what it would lift. I have a plow on a pickup, but I really don't know what the lift capacity actually is. All I know is it lifts the plow on the pickup.

The hydraulic reservoir is built in to the unit, so it might take some ingenuity to expand the amount of hydraulic fluid. I always just run auto transmission fluid in mine. It has no warm up time, compared to other oils.

Works on pick up trucks, a 7 or 8 foot pick-up plow usually is heavier then a 6 foot rear blade. You most likely would want to convert to a 12 volt system. Norther Tool cataloge has the pump and resevoir systems.

You could also possible use an electric"linear accuator"...which is compact like a pickup plow lift, but has internal screw jack type mechanism.

No, the H does not have a live PTO. I would just use for it raising bushhog, maybe a Bale spear, etc. Just for dubbing around, I am looking for another tractor but will never get rid of the H, just trying to make it a little more usuable.
Thanks for the replies.
