Ran into this guy on the way to do chores this morning. It was a busy day for the road crews.

The corn that is still unharvested really has alot of snow in it now.

A few of the calves see I am there and watch for me to go into the shed and get their feed.

The snow sure does make everything look nice.

Just a couple of nosey calves.

Here is my frozen waterer. Worked on it for awhile this morning and finally gave up and put the new heat tape on the pipe and plugged it in to keep things from getting any worse at least.

Just a pic looking south out of the barn lot about 3 this afternoon. It wasnt as nice as the picture makes it out to be.

The 4230 is plugged in and ready to go. The 1086 is here in the shed and on the block heater is on the timer to be ready in the morning. The 8920 and the other blower is in the heated shop at cliffs house. I backed my truck in tonight so I can take a run at getting out of here if I have to in the morning. I went and got Logan and he helped me feed hay at both farms and bed the steers. We ran as much water as possible for the cows and calves at the Higgs farm. Did chores earlier than we had to but doing chores here at home tonight at about 4:30 the wind was really starting to blow.

My great grandad always said his dad told him the only thing between the back door of this house and the north pole was a screen door and on a night like this I know what he means.

Wrigley is sleeping at my feet. He loves to play in the snow and the deep snow really wears him out. Have fun in the snow everybody!

You have a beautiful home; picture post-card perfect!

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Wrigley's got it made.

We never have near the snow here that you get in the midwest, but I remember from my youth on the dairy how much trouble the cold and snow caused- multiply it by 10 or so for you folks! I remember my dad teaching me how to use the "Bernz-o-Matic" propane torch to thaw out the pulsators on the old Surge milkers when I was about 6 years old- we had an unheated milking parlor, open to the wind, and when it got down in single digits, we had to keep at it to keep one milker of the two working. Guess I don't miss that. . .

Will you be able to salvage any of the unharvested corn?

Guess you didn't want to go 4 wheeling then, huh!
Drug snow around till about 12:30, ate and then had a "quick" nap. Needed a little excercise - so started hand shoveling walks. Hope I can make it till at least halftime of the ballgame.
Thanks for the pictures.

I wish the peta people would read your post. Maybe they would realize the effort you take to make sure your livestock has the best of care.

Always like to know what Wrigleys up too.
Love to see the winter pics. Makes me feel like I'm not the only one out in the cold doing chores.
