Allan in NE Fender amp talk

Hey - sorry to jump off the conversation last night, we had to take our daughter to the ER. Looks like bad gall bladder, kind of unusual as she is only almost 18 (in March). Anyway, more Fender amp talk. I liked the older models better, any of the ones with 6L6 output tubes seemed to have the "warmest" sound. I don't remember what the Pro150 uses (too many years out of the business). A lot of newer audio tube amplifiers used 6550 output tubes. The 6550 is a common tube but was never one of my favorites for audio use as they can become microphonic and tend to arc and otherwise fail. The tone of the 6550 seems to be a little more "harsh" to my ear.

Geeze,

Sure hope the little gal gets straightened out soon. A youngin' just shouldn't have to go thru a bunch of medical problems, especially at that tender age.

Yes Sir, I like to take the raw signal, fatten it up, then squash it. Trouble is, ya gotta have that "good" initial tone to begin with to make it work.

Once ya hear the "glass" tone, ya just never forget it. Funny how that works.

Oh, and good news on the epoxy experiment. Looks like all is good to go. Still shakin' out some string buzz and sensor height adjustment, but the insturment seems solid as a rock.

So, I say epoxy is highly UNDER rated. :>)

Thanks for the input,

Allan

Looks good to me. These days I fix x-ray equipment to pay for boats and farms. In our business we find epoxy to be most handy, especially on Friday afternoons!:^)

sheesh, geetar players!

friendly ribbing from a wanna be organ player and former wanna be drummist (i could read music so i was over qualified to beat things)

And then,

Like the total nerd that I am, set the guitar under the light and beside the heater vent to take that picture last night.

Got to watching TV and forgot about it.

Yep, I cracked the finish on it along the top edge. Enough to make a grown man weep.

Sometimes I really think that I need to be put out of my misery. :>(

On the subject of amps, any of you guys have any knowledge or experience around Budda amps? This would be the older Stringmaster model built with tubes. I took one on trade on a tractor deal. The guy really wanted the tractor, but couldnt come up with enough cash. I could see it was breaking his heart to let the amp go, or maybe he deserves an acting award.
