Latest crime - cutting horse's tails.

Had an item on local TV a couple days back.... Seems someone is coming in and cutting the hair off of horse's tails. Donno what the market for horse tails is, but must be something. Horse owners in that neighborhood are a bit edgy. I wouldn't be considering something like that. My luck I'd get a face full of hooves! Like to see someone try that with my gard llamas.

I saw that last5 night on the news, too. I didn't realize it would take two years for the tail to grow back. Things just keep getting stranger and stranger in this old world.

We had our cow's tails lopped off about 30 years
ago when I was a kid. Kids used lopping shears for
branches. The cops found out who did it but since
they were kids of major citizens there were no
charges. We painted the cow's stumps with some
purple antibotic and the cows seemed to get along
OK, but I guess flies were a problem for them.

read on yahoo news today around 1200 head of cattle have benn rustled in the past couple years in oregon. heres a link to the news report

Punch in horse hair on ebay..... Had a rash of that in northern Germany a few years ago......
Thieves are dumb and gullible, just let word get out that your animals are DNA tested and hair can be traced...

Like Scotty sez. I have a friend who re-hairs fiddle bows. He likes tail hair from a white mare. Don't know why the mare is s'posed to be better. I do know that he wouldn't mess with someone's horses.

He re-haired a bow for me. Didn't improve my playing at all. I sounded better with a hairless bow. . . Fiddles have no frets. If you ain't right on, you're wrong, and I'm wrong more than I'm right. I think once in a while I might have passed by the right note, but it was probably in the wrong place.

Everyone should try to play a fiddle. Gives you immediate respect for a good fiddler.

they actually sell tail extensions for show horses, I was amazed at how much they can cost. It's possible they are being sold on the secondary market.

They were telling on channel 13 what that hair was used for. Wasn't wigs or fiddle bows. I was doing something else right then and didn't catch it enough for it to stick in my mind. Maybe the story is still on their website. WZZM13.com I think.

You mean to tell me my hayburners have some value after all? Wonder how many ounces of hair you can get from a tail every two years?

Is there a market for hoof trimmings? Used in a witch's brew or something?
