my son accidentally installed my websearch I tried deleting it with toolbar add/remove,did that ,started it back up it' still there, now when I go to tool bar it's not showing my websearch on it,what do I do to get rid of it ???????? thanks for any help.

Not grasping what you mean by websearch, but hit F11 and see what happens. If the toolbars disapear, hit it again to bring them back.

well I tried everything it still does not go away ,found something that said my browser was hijacked, now what do I do,I'm lost and confused! HELP!!!

I don't know my belly from my backside when it comes to these contraptions, but I was having trouble with my desktop last week not doing what I wanted it to. Had a mind of its own. Somebody told me to go to the control panel and check the user accounts to see if it had been taken over. Said to try the "change accounts" option. Might not be the same answer, but if you don't have anything else.....

With a lot of the extremely tenacious malware floating around these days, its often easier to just reinstall Windows.

But, if you are running Internet Explorer 8, you might be able to click on tools, Internet options, advanced, and reset to blow out any IE plug-ins.

If you already followed the instructions linked by NE Cowman, you may have a newer more persistent variety.

You might try booting into safe mode, running through that list of instructions again, and then running a complete virus scan while still in safe mode and see if that helps.

There are a ton of other tricks - such as looking through your Windows subdirectories for suspicious files, emptying your recycle bin, restore points, & internet temporary folders, etc... it just depends on the specific malware that has attacked your PC what will work...

Try dowloading and running these...The free version of each should do it.

Many good suggestions already. Assuming you can still download online - go to . . .

www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Download and run the free version. After installing and letting it do it's thing, you'll see a ladybug in the taskbar indicating it starts with Windows. You can prevent it from starting next time by changing the preferences. Used it many times.

Worst case on a really bad one that nothing is helping: ComboFix

Go here:

www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

and download it to your DESKTOP and run it from there. (click the bleepingcomputer.com link to download)

When running you will get a message saying Windows doesn't have everything it needs to safely run it - I've great success running it anyway. Be forewarned - I've found ComboFix to be an all or nothing. It either works and everything is back to normal. Or it blows out what it needs to and in doing so it causes Windows to be screwed to the point of no return. Out of maybe 8 times I've used it, just once did it kill Windows and that was a really badly screwed computer. Just a warning.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-malware and install and run it in the safe mode. Be sure and uncheck the update box when installing it in the safe mode. Run a scan and it should clean it for you.
