My 6 volt system on my Super A works fine, but I may want upgrade to 12 volts. Does anyone know if the factory alternator and starter on a later year 140 fit the Super A? I am trying to keep the "factory look".

Paint your alternator red and it will look factory.

well keep the 6 volt then. that little tiny engine spins over just fine with 6v, so why put extra force and wear on starter bendix and ring gear by having it slammed together with 12volts when its totaly not necessary.i hope every one throws the 6volt out, and that will bring the price up on a pristine restoration with 6 volt.send me all your 6volt stuff!

I would call it a down grade. The starter will hit the ring gear at twice the rated speed.Alternators have an open design that will let water in.The As generator is sealed for a good reason. An A with a good battery starts easy.
