For new sellers pay pal holds the money for so long, 3 weeks? Or until buyer puts positive feedback. Seems kind of hard on seller or is it just for larger dollar amounts?

How about buyers that don't use paypal? They have eliminated any other payment option and if seller agrees to taking other form of payment paypal fights both parties because of it.

I have sold over 5000 items on ebay. I dislike both ebay & paypal. Ebay owns paypal, so they are in cahoots. Ebay policy requires all items be paid for by paypal. My paypal fees usually equal the ebay fees. I insist on cash when selling hi dollar items that are picked up at my house. Ebay even scans the item descriptions for key words if you tell people you take cash or checks. Some of my auctions have been booted off. They are very controlling. Ebay favors the buyers over the sellersI am also an occasional buyer. Buyers always win in a dispute. I do have a 100% rating and try hard.

I put no paypal, check or cash only in my adds and have never had any trouble.

I sold on ebay for over 6 years and quit when they forced sellers to offer Pay-Pal. I buy some things on ebay, that I cannot get in local stores at a lower price.

I always contact the seller, before bidding, or buying and ask if they accept Money Orders and or Personal Checks. So far, I have not had any problems paying that way. In fact, I just payed for a new cell phone battery with the online Bill-Pay option that my bank offers.

Best part is, I did not even have to buy a stamp, or go to the mailbox.

I haven't really visited ebay in a few years - seem they are a fee-sucking thing any more.

I started using Paypal almost from the start and people seem to prefer it to mailing checks. It's just part of doing business. I still take checks but I don't get very many anymore. Take your stuff to your local consignment sale. You won't be paid for at least 10 days.

Yup, I 2nd everything you said. Have sold 2k plus items on ebay. Someone needs to give them some competition so they step it up. The thing that makes me mad is they make new rules and then you have to get all your listings in compliance. YOu can no longer have insurance as an option, so if you say in your listing that it is an option they will end your lising and you have to change your listing to relist the item.
Paypal...thats another joke. I recently bought some items from a guy. Paid him with paypal. Items never showed up. Paypal wouldnt do anything about it. SInce the transaction wasnt through ebay they said they have no control over it. They never mention that when the advertise it as the "safe way to pay" etc etc. I was so ------ about the whole deal the customer service lady said paypal would refund me $100 of the $350 I lost. SHe told me it would take a week for the credit to go through. I never got the credit!!! They must have just told me that to calm me down and get me off the phone...

My Grandson[lives in Omaha] works for PayPal and to my understanding is that Ebay is owned by PayPal or vise-versa and home is in Omaha,Nebraska
