Just sat down to a plate of bacon and eggs. Meat from the home grown pig I had butchered last summer and eggs from the 10 hens I got laying in the chicken house. Just don't get much more Americana then that. oops, gotta go. Just dropped some on the floor.

Sounds like you got a plan. Thats what we do. 30 some chickens, sell the eggs and have plenty for ourselfs. Also grow our own veggies, freez and store them for the winter,,,ah feels good dont it. The cows, and chickens provide fert for the garden, its a neat circle.
Well, I gotta go and service the manure spreader, so I can clean the horse barn. Gotta remember the grease gun and used oil lol:) J

Don't worry, your home grown pooch will clean it up pronto.

I remember when I was a kid, my grandparents came out for Sunday dinner every week. They raved about all the home-grown stuff- we just thought it was because we were poor and couldn't afford to buy much, so grew it ourselves.

I had venison tenderloin, fresh shredded hash browns from dug spuds, and creamed corn from the sweet corn patch.

Our kitchen floor is local oak probably cut from the woods in the 1800s. I remember my Dad well surveying the family dinner and at most meals it was nearly all from the farm/garden.
