i have a kubota L-245dt, when i started it yesterday to plow some snow it blew a plug out of the block and was pumping engine oil, the hole is behind the oil filter, anyone know the purpose of the hole and what it was plugged with,..dosn't appear to be threaded...

I think its a high oil pressure blowout plug. I had a chinese tractor that had one of those blow out of the rocker shaft. Most likely, with cold oil, pressure was up, I think there is an adjustment, on the pump, to lower the pressure, or invest in a pre-heater, and it probably won't happen, again.

Jim the other post is right on it. part number is 34150-27580 real hard rubber plug. The unit has a by pass valve in the oil filter base for filter bypass but your plug blew out because the oil was too thick for the cold temp. You can try something like 5 w 20 or puting the unit inside where it will be warmer. We probably see about
3 or for units a year, always older units. Been doing KUBOTA 28 years,, hope this helps Jerry

thanks guys,...i do see a lot of what appears to be rubber or plastic plugs on this engine, i use 10-40 oil,...my guess is things are getting old and brittle, i do use an engine heater....
