Installer came yesterday afternoon and hooked up DSL. WAY, WAY faster than Wildblue. Just have to change all my e-mail accounts. MUCH FASTER and 1/2 the price. Chris

I just went from dial-up to DSL ,I could take a nap waiting for pics to download,it's amazing don't know how I went with out it for so long.

DSL is a lot nicer. I went backwards though and have Wildblue now after I was spoiled by DSL. Congratulations you made a good choice

When DSL became available here last summer we dropped the separate long distance carrier and Hughes Internet, combined them all into one package with the DSL and ended up paying about half what we were before.

Now do yourself another favor and get a few Gmail accounts instead of using the carrier for email.

I just set up my Cell Phone, a Palm Pre, as a WiFi tethered unit. Now if there is a decent cell phone signal, I think 3G, my computer, with
WiFi going to my cell phone is my connection. I"m in Central Illinois, connected via that system and it is working great.

Congratulations. In my case ,I am still "crawling" with Hughesnet...You know ? the worst It is that 200 mb limit FAP (Fair Access Policy). The another I forgot it & upgrade my phone software.Result!!!.I didn't have internet access almost for 2 days..OUTRAGEOUS

We all thought that you would love DSL. Wildblue and Hughesnet are total jokes. For the past 4-5 days Hughesnet has slowed down to a crawl and has even been unuseable at times. We have never even been close to going over the limit lately because right now it wouldnt be possible. It took 3 minutes just to open up ytmag.

We wont be able to get DSL for years here as there are no plans to upgrade our old out of date phone lines.

If you've got cell reception in your house, look into getting a broadband card through your cell provider. IN my case it's Verizon Wireless, and I've been very happy with the results. I've had it for almost 2 months now, and my only other options were satelite or dial up. For what the costs were, and after our dish installer reccomended to find any other way than satelite internet, we went with wireless broadband.

We had road runner high speed internet where we used to live, and I really can't notice much difference between the 2. Very happy with Verizon.

I know in the past driving through this area Verizon had a pretty bad blackout area, but they ust have put up some more towers since then.
