OT Pulling Truck to Truck

Just watched some tractor pulling videos a friend sent. Got me to thinking, back in the mid 80's a bunch of young hardheads around my town would hitch bumper to bumper in some parking lot and see who could out pull who. Seemed kinda crazy to me, hard on equipment and all. But was fun to watch. When the loser would break loose tires would smoke. Town cops frowned upon it also. Anyone else done or watched this type of pulling?

a guy I went to school with used to do it all the time with a shortbed Dodge from the 80s. He drug Chevrolets all over the place. A Bronco beat him once and he filled up his tires with water and beat the guy then

I saw that happen also, was considered cheating to fill tires. This was in Leesburg, VA.
Where are you.

we did that only on dirt and a friend of mine could pull most. One day he decided to pick at me for not ever "hooking up" eventually I did and him with the slight down hill advantage I pulled him to my surprise I then put on brakes and he decided to jerk and pull me after we had stopped. He couldn't budge me. I then waited for him to stop and then with the chain still tight I pulled him again with all his tires locked down. I never had anyone else pick at me enough for me to try again. many times I would pull stuck trucks out or go mud riding and never got stuck.

Never did it myself, but after returning from a 10 day winter getaway having left my 17 yr old son to feed the cattle, I discovered my 79 34 ton 4 sp 6 cyl Ford feed truck had quite a reputation. It out pulled all the local trucks and caused axel damage to a new truck. Kids never weighed the trucks mine with tools, ice snow hay mover etc. probly went 9000#. I raised he$$ nobody listened as always!

I have a brother lives in Leesburg. Just took him back to airport on Monday. He was home for a week to celebrate Christmas with Mother here in Mn. He had left his car in outside lot at Dullas. Wonder how much of it was showing after the storm. Have to call him and ask.

dad left me in charge when I was 16 hog ,cattle and crops(all laid by). hired hand refused to help feed, I fired his axx. dad got home noticed house was empty, hand drove up wanting his job apolized for not helping. Dad told him to leave, didn't want him if could not be trusted while gone

That car is probably buried under a mountain of snow, seen that happen before. I think the plow drivers there get a kick out of doing that.
Here I had the opposite experience. Plowed my driveway as usual, waited for the state roads guys to come fill the opening with an ice dam. They not only didn"t block it back up, the driver took a few extra swipes to leave it clear and open. Was very thankful due to temps dropping and everything freezing again.

Guys I know were doing it all the time at the dairy farm I worked at. The long concrete slab where the silage bags were put worked perfect. I saw a guys Chevy blow apart a front drive shaft.
I never tried it, liked my truck too much.

I never got to see it, but heard plenty about it, 30+ years ago our 2 local veternaries got all tanked up at the local "establishment" and hooked up right in the street in front of the "establishment". Don't remember who won but put on a pretty good show, took 30 min for the smoke to clear. It's still talked about today by the "locals".
