Still harvesting?

My family's tenant in Kansas still has corn in the field and I need the money. It's not his fault he can't get it picked.

There is a fair amount of corn still in the field here in our part of central IL. Talked to a neighbor today that has 3 combines lined up to try to get finished, when the weather strightens up. By far the latest harvest in my life and the slowest harvest, ever.

While outside fixing an outdoor light on the garage last night around 7:30 I heard and then saw an IH combine going down the road with a semi following.

I figure they were out harvesting somewhere nearby since there is still some corn up in places. I'm in SouthWest Michigan, it's cold but not too much snow, guess you gotta get it while you can!

Brother will finish all beans tonite , then back to 100 + acres of corn ,,,If he had everthing within a mile of home he would a been done a lot sooner.... drove to Seymour In yesterday,, from the VIsual road survey , everything was done ...... i have been done since Nov 27th,

Drove out Hwy 6 East of Council Bluffs last Sunday-HUGE drifts in the corn still standing. That might take awhile to complete! What was visible from the road looked like 5 to 10% of corn left in that area. Greg

Still got bout 25 acres beans but snow has hampered that. Might be after the new year, this is by far the latest harvest ive seen.

i'm in stephenson co. il on the state line. there is still lots of corn to be harvested here and southern wi.
we had about 15 inches of snow 2 weeks ago then some 0 temps but guys were able to go back to combining monday night tuesday morning we got another 3 or 4 inches of snow with lots of wind.
10:30 pm we are getting hammered with freezing rain weather man saying we have 1/4 to 1/3 inch of ice can get up to 1/2 inch of ice.
i think it will be a long time until guys can get back in fields.

I know in the central part of IL, around my area, most of the corn is out, but alot of beans, still waiting to get cut. The past 2 days we"ve had another 2" of rain, and it doesn"t look favorable in the near term.

All the beans in the area have been out for a while now, as far as I know. Lots of corn still standing, though. I started mine 2 weeks ago, but it was still 28%. Did 15 acres for a neighbor last weekend, back to mine Tuesday afternoon. Finished the first field yesterday before milking, intended to go back out after chores, but it started snowing. 27 acres left, may end up standing until April. Yesterday"s loads ranged from 20.8%-26%.

Took a trip down to Kansas City from Des moines Ia. down I35 ...
There is alot of corn still in the fields .. even seen a field of beans .. at least the top of them ...

A neighboring farm still has about 1/2 of a field of beans left, and unless their combine broke they've got no excuse to not have it off other than just being slow. Now there's snow, and there's no way it's coming off for quite a while.

One of my supervisors at work still had about 25 acres of corn to do, but they're waiting until there's a nice frost in the ground because the ground is rented, but it was basically stolen form them buy a neighboring farmer. He went over their head and offered more money, and they were never notified that another offer was made until the contract was already signed for 2010. Said this same guy has done it to quite a few neighbors of his, so he doesn't have too many friends and nobody will be running to help him out when he breaks down.

We were done chopping corn on Oct. 12th. We don't combine anything except oats in the summer, so no worries there. Did plan to plow one more field a few weeks ago, but the frost was already in the ground enough to give troubles. Couldn't get any traction because it was a hay field and the ground was frozen enough I just sat and spun. I think the frost might be out some now though with the nice snow cover we've got.
