This old girl does not want to move when it is cold, after it sits idling for a few minutes it feels like the converter kicks in, shifts great after that, and works ok above 50 degrees....any ideas? Thanks in advance ...Animal

Probably leaking past a seal untill it warms up.
You could change the flter and add some trans/medic or somethig equivalent to that and see if it helps.

I second the plugged filter. Some other transmissions are known for that very problem, and it"s the first place to start.

We own 2 explorers that messed up around 130-150,000 miles. Both received a filter change and new fluid with a pint of LUCAS Tranny additive on advice of 2 tranny mechanics. They both healed over and now have over 215000 miles on both of them. One was slipping in high gear, and the other one reverse didnt want to latch and go.Made me a believer
