massey super 92

Wasn't that a Chrysler inline flathead 6 cylinder? We used to pull them out of Dodges and Plymouths and vise versa. Paul

it was a 265 cu.in. six cyl. flathead crysler.the 542 cockshutt and 4292 minni. also used the same engine.

Yep that's it the MF Super 92 used to be the king of "down rice". When the hurricanes or high winds off storms would come up out of the gulf into Arkansas & Mississippi, it would lay the old Delta rice varieties down on the ground and that 92, with a spike reel, would pick it up and salvage the most. Beat the JD & IHC combines. I was there on Dakin Rice Dryer riceland. Paul Dakin

The 261 was an industrial/truck engine. I had a Massey 82 with one. A few years ago I rebuilt a 261 for a late 40's Dodge snubnose truck. Jim

never did see a super 92 with a perkins diesel. i know the 410 had them along with the 327 chev gas engine. the 750 had the perkins 354 and 373. i dont think that perkins would even fit down in the bottom there under that grain pan in a super 92.

I was in the farming, trucking and custom combining business over 50 years. At one time
my dad and I owned 2 super 92's. One had the
flathead gasoline chrysler and the other one
had the perkins diesel. The perkins was a much
better combine.
