Decent trucks?
5.3 liter V8, auto trans with auto 4 wheel drive. Pickups are hard to come by here and just ran across this one. Got a lot of bells and whistles I'm not crazy about but...... 4dr model.

Thanks, Dave

They a good truck other then the auto 4x4, if you keep it in that it likes to slam in and out of 4x4 mode, real hard on the front end, I know of at least four of them that the front end has problems cause of that, one has to be replaced completely.

That's what I needed to hear....... Not quite so interesting now.

I'm a tech at a GM/Ford dealer and have never seen what molinebob is talking about. The only real problem with the ft axle is the seals leak sometimes. The auto mode should never be used off road. Quick way to burn up the clutches. Beyond that, the 4wd on those trucks is nearly bullet proof.

I"ve got that setup in an 05 with 91000 miles and just minor problems, universal, axle seal leak, and that check engine light cost me 300 to fix.I thought about trading for a new one,but they would only give me 7000 on trade.

I've got a 2000 with a 5.3, 4wd. 195,000 miles never had a bit of trouble with the auto 4wd feature. Only replaced the normal wear items. 17mpg back and forth to work. 20 on the interstate.

We've got an 2002 Silverado 3/4 ton 4X4 with the 6.0, extended cab and short bed.
Outside of a fuel pump, it hasn't given any problems after 110,000 miles - pulls bumper pull great but the next is going to be a gooseneck!

It was not being used off road that i know of, any of em, its when they drive in the winter up here in the north country when the roads get slick and lots of snow is when they leave in auto 4. The one truck belonged to my grandpa that has to have the front end replaced in it because of the auto 4.
