carburetor flooding

Please help me. We have a 1962 560 gas Farmall. The carburetor continues to leak gas from the air/mixture needle valve. Took the carb to a Farmall dealer and got the floats adjusted but it continues to leak. Got any ideas. Tractor will not start either.

If you look closely, you would probably see that the gas is coming from the drain mesh at bottom of carb indicating the gas is running past the needle and seat.

I've had some solid style needles that just wouldn't seal.Try a Napa brand kit. They generally come with a viton rubber style needle and seal up better.

Sometimes I can get a solid needle and seat to
stop dribbling by removing the float and lightly
tapping the needle into the seat with a suitably sized brass drift with a light body hammer. Its
only been about a 40% success rate though.

There are several things that cause a carburetor to leak. The bowl vent can be obstructed, not letting the float work properly. The needle in the float valve may be defective, or the seat not sealing against the body. If the tractor won't start, you may also have a trash or water problem in the fuel system causing all these problems. Sounds to me like it needs professional attention which today's dealerships are hard pressed to provide. It takes an old timer to fix these old tractors. PJ

The needle is not cutting off the fuel, just had the exact thing happen on my TEA. If you lightly tap the carb it may stop but the best is to replace,
