TRUING a FEEDER Augar

Brother bent a CASE -IH 1020 wet kit feeder augar with a rock , while getting the beans the other nite , it is running out in a eccetric and needs to be repaired properly .....,the head is 25 ft long , ..... and we can trailer it to a shop.. Is there anyone in the radius of 200 miles or so of Louisville, KY that can do the JOB ? . Thanx jim

Is it a long easy bend or a sharp short bend?

If long easy--

Leave it in the header and use the front side of the back of the header to push on.

Get a hydraulic porta power and put the jaws between the back of the header and the auger with a 2x4 to cushion the auger.

May need to put a long block against the back of the feeder as well.

It worth a try. Just don't bend the back of the header.

Leland is right. A bent auger should go to the junk pile. It can be straightened but someday it'll give up the ghost. We have half-straightened an auger in a pinch by cutting out a small section of the tube in the right spot and heating it in another spot to get it half way usable, then welding the patch back in to the spot we cut away. About a hundred hours later the auger will crack most of the way around and then there's not choice but to replace. I'm pretty sure an auger from a 1010 head will work but make sure you look at serial numbers cause there are differences between the newer and older heads.Good luck. Jim
