Hey folks. Any experience good or bad with these things (or something compareable)? Need to (would like to) run a water line into my back yard and had given in to running it above ground and insulating it until this was mentioned on Tractor Talk. Over the years, I have built a couple walls and backfilled in order to level the yard and gain some more space and it'd be a shame and PITA to dig that up again. If these things work, I could run water to a cellar and on out to the stalls in the back yard by going under the filled area. Distance is not that far (<60 ft). Could also see myself punching a couple shallow wells with it.

Any advice is appreciated.

I don't have any experience with them Dave, but maybe you read my post about running that 2 inch with the trash pump the other day. If you have room enough to lay a pipe down in a fair length of ditch or in a cellar, you'd be amazed at how much pipe you can push in and how fast it goes just by hooking a garden hose up to it. Providing you don't run into any big stones.Even the pipe collars when you hook lengths together should slide right in. We ended up with about a 6 inch hole with that 2 inch pipe. I remember when I was a kid,Dad ran a piece of 1/2 inch right near where we ran that 2 inch the other day. He ran that one under the road to run a wire through to run the well pump when it was over there.

I've been tempted to buy one of those Borzits though myself,to put in some automatic waterers in places where we need to go in under existing concrete,so I'd be interested to hear anybody's experience with one too.

I was a work supv. at a state ran prison about 15 years ago, and we had inmate work crews installing sprinkler systems at City parks and schools. We bought one and it was the best investment we made. We even had our welding shop make bigger bits etc. and with a 1/2 drill, we were running 3 inch pipe under 8 foot wide walks with no trouble at all. Not sure what the cost is now, but it sure was a good toool for us.
